About Us

The Barrhaven Community Concert Band is a traditional concert band, based in the south-western Ottawa suburb of Barrhaven.  It is composed of over 50 musicians of all ages and from all walks of life. The BCCB is a registered Canadian charity.

The BCCB mission is to develop and maintain a community-based musical organization dedicated to furthering the development of the musical ability of its members and the performance of high-quality concerts for the community.

Our goal is to improve the musical ability of our members, through a fun and challenging repertoire.  Each week, our conductor shares his passion for music as well as his knowledge and expertise, enables the members to improve their skills, and promotes a sense of accomplishment at practices and performances.  A special camaraderie also forms between members, making the experience even more special.

Our History

The Barrhaven Community Concert Band was founded in 2011 by local residents Lisa Nudelman and Lisa Hazel, of Barrhaven, Ontario, a south-western suburb of Ottawa. From its humble beginnings, the band quickly grew to over 40 musicians, and has performed several concerts for the people of Barrhaven and the surrounding communities of the National Capital Area.

For the first five years, the band had the privilege to perform under the direction of Steve Szabo, a local music teacher and accomplished performing trumpet player, as its music director.  His guidance and mentoring have helped shape the band into what it is today.  The band and its members wish to acknowledge his contribution and leadership.

Since the Fall of 2016, the BCCB has been under the musical direction of Jean-Pierre Lafleur.

The BCCB is a proud user and supporter of Bandzoogle, for the management of its website.
